Vineyard Manager
Anyone who has visited the winery at harvest time knows that Abel and his vineyard crew work around the clock picking and pressing grapes. What most of us do not know is that even during the wintertime, there is still plenty of work to be done outside. Abel and his four assistants work year-round tending our 28 acres of vines. Abel also works with our winemaker and oversees the bottling line.
Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Abel has been working at Channing Daughters for seventeen years. Before coming to work at the winery, he spent a number of years working for landscaping companies on Long Island. Abel’s parents remain in Puebla, and he and his family usually visit once a year. Abel loves living and working on the East End, and is a proud resident of Sag Harbor. When Abel isn't at work, he likes to spend time with his wife, Jacoba, and their sixteen year old son Jonathan and eight year old daughter Shayla. He enjoys living close to the beach. In the summertime, he can be found fishing for bluefish and striped bass or playing soccer.
