2022 Mosaico

Wine Club Member Exclusive

We are thrilled to release the newest vintage of our delicious white wine, Mosaico. Mosaico is an exotic field blend that comes from a complanted block in our Sylvanus Vineyard on our farm in Bridgehampton. Our 2022 Mosaico is comprised of 32% Pinot Grigio, 29% Chardonnay, 14% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Muscat Ottonel, 8% Gewurztraminer and 7% Tocai Friulano. This is a dry white wine where all the varieties were grown, harvested, pressed and fermented ambiently/wild together in a stainless steel tank. All the fruit was hand-picked and whole cluster-pressed, except for sixteen percent of the grapes which were fermented ambiently/wild on their skins in one-ton bins and blended back. This is a texturally delicious and aromatically unique white wine. The color is a beautiful light golden tone. The flavors and aromas are complex and deep, and range from citrus fruit (lemon), tree fruit (pears, apples), stone fruit (peaches, apricots), and tropical fruit (pineapple, mango, lychee). In addition, there are beautiful notes of flowers, honey, brown spices and our telltale saline minerality. The wine is medium-bodied, the alcohol and acidity are balanced, and the finish is long, clean, persistent and delicious. The 2022 Mosaico spent about a year on its lees in a stainless steel tank. Try this wine with all manner of fish and shellfish dishes as well as vegetables, chicken, pork or veal sausage and white meats that incorporate exotic and/or aromatic seasoning and spices. Our 2022 Mosaico is super delicious now and will offer great drinking opportunities over the next three to eight years. Only 288 cases were produced of the 2022 vintage so do not miss this wine.

2022 Due Uve

Wine Club Member Exclusive

Stoked to have this wine back as we have not made it since the 2015 vintage! Due Uve is a fun, playful and aromatic wine. Our new 2022 vintage is a supple, graceful, delicious and inviting experience. The 2022 Due Uve (two grapes) is a blend of 62% Syrah and 38% Refosco. The Syrah comes from the Mudd West Vineyard in Hallockville on the North Fork and the Refosco comes from our Home Farm Vineyard here on our farm in Bridgehampton. All the fruit was hand-harvested, de-stemmed into one-ton bins, stomped on by foot, and punched down by hand and shovel. After a wild/ambient primary fermentation the wine was racked to all older neutral barrels, where it spent ten months. Our 2022 Due Uve is a ruby red color with purple inflections and a translucent core. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and juicy, has moderate alcohol and is vibrant and tasty. There are floral, fruit, mineral and spice components to the flavor and aroma profile. Violets, blueberry, black raspberry, blackberry, black cherry, black licorice, wet stone, cocoa, cinnamon and just a touch of black pepper are some of the descriptors that come to mind. This wine possesses lightness and elegance but is robust and deep enough to tackle some exotic flavor experiences. Try with soy and teriyaki flavors as well as more classic preparations of fish, poultry, grain, pork, veal and pasta dishes. Due Uve is very attractive, very approachable and very versatile. This is an uber-delicious wine to enjoy in its vibrant youth and over the next 5-7 years with great satisfaction. Only 208 cases were bottled of the 2022 vintage!

2022 Chardonnay — The Hamptons, Long Island AVA

The water that surrounds us defines and sculpts our Long Island region. The Great Peconic Bay, The Long Island Sound and especially for us here on the South Fork, The Atlantic Ocean. The Ocean creates and mitigates the climate and circumstances that shapes our wines. We love the Ocean and everything she provides. We also love Chardonnay and thought it would be great to celebrate a Chardonnay just from our fruit in Bridgehampton that is formed and grown under the influence of the almighty Atlantic Ocean.

We love a pure, clean style of Chardonnay that celebrates the fruit of our maritime vineyards and region and is very versatile at the table. For this reason, we ferment and mature this Chardonnay in stainless steel tanks with no secondary malolactic fermentation. This crisp, focused white wine displays aromas and flavors of citrus and tree fruits that is coupled with a salty minerality that sings of the sea. This delicious white wine reminds us of our Atlantic ocean: her beauty, refreshing breezes and the bountiful life it supports. Dive in!

In the spirit of our Heart: Artist Series projects we asked a good friend Tim Regan to use one of his amazing photographs of our ocean and the life in it for the new label. Tim is an amazing human and artist, a local waterman, lifeguard, drone pilot, photographer, fisherman and fishing guide among many other things and we feel honored to collaborate with him. His documentation and photography of the life in our local waters is truly stunning and inspiring. If you want to know what's going on in our Ocean then you must follow Tim and his work. This beautiful photo on the label, of an incredible Humpback whale diving, was taken just down the road from the winery on our local beach. A sight you can see daily from our beaches in the late spring, summer and fall months, it constantly inspires us. We hope this wine, this image, this story and our place inspires you too!

2019 Blaufrankisch – Sylvanus Vineyard The Hamptons, Long Island

We are always very happy to release a new vintage of our lovely Blaufrankisch. Over the years this variety has proven its affinity with our climate and we love to use it both as a blending grape and as a varietal bottling. Our 2019 Sylvanus Vineyard Blaufrankisch is comprised of 75% Blaufrankisch and 25% Dornfelder. We feel the Dornfelder is a great match as a blending grape with its darker color, lower acid, briary, bramble and spice fruit character. This 2019 wine has a ruby-red colored rim with purple inflections and a transparent purple core. The aromas and flavors are full of black raspberries, blackberries, plums, boysenberries, violets, brown spice and black pepper. This is a dry, supple, sexy wine with Burgundian texture and great concentration. The alcohol is moderate (12%), the acids juicy and balanced, the tannins are present but soft, and the wine offers a great deal of pleasure and a long delicious finish. All the fruit was hand-picked from our Sylvanus Vineyard here in Bridgehampton on the South Fork, de-stemmed, crushed by foot and punched down by hand in small one-ton bins. The wine spent about 10 months in puncheons and barriques made from old French and Slovenian oak. Our 2019 Blaufrankisch Sylvanus Vineyard is a great match with venison, sausages, pork roasts, meatballs, duck, game birds, veal chops, hard mountain and washed-rind cheeses as well as earthy grain and squash-based dishes and mushrooms. This wine would also be a great choice for smoked bluefish and richer fish preparations. Our 2019 Sylvanus Vineyard Blau is still youthful and will age in the bottle easily for at least another five+ years! Irresistible now as well, it will benefit from decanting and large stemware! Enjoy. 208 cases produced. 1 case max per customer.

2021 Delaware — AVA Finger Lakes

Delaware is a very old American Hybrid pink-skinned, white wine variety. Delaware was quite popular from the mid 1800's on. In 1905, in the great book "The Grapes of New York", it was written "Delaware is the American grape par excellence...for there is no variety of vitis vinifera more richly or more delicately flavored or with more agreeable aroma than the Delaware." Our Delaware is made in the Methode Ancestral style and bottled at the end of its fermentation before it is complete, trapping the carbon dioxide in the bottle resulting in a lightly sparkling or Petillant wine. This delicious bottle of wine is lightly sparkling, dry, has juicy acidity and moderate barely 10% alcohol. The flavors are delicate and filigreed. There is a chalkiness and fine mineral, citrus fruit and green apple character along with just a touch of the "grapey" aroma telltale of these varieties. The wine is refreshing, inviting and scrumptious. Pair this sparkler with the raw bar, fresh goat and sheep milk cheeses, light vegetable dishes, fluke, Black Sea bass, trigger fish especially with fruit and vegetable slaws...would even be great with a pork chop and mostarda.

We only made 168 cases of this delight so snatch it up and taste the possibilities and deliciousness our Delaware has to offer. 1 case max per customer.

Over & Over-Variation 15 – Long Island AVA

This is a ridiculously fun, fascinating and delicious red wine! There are people in the world making red wines with a ripasso method and there are people in the world using a solera system of blending for some red wines but we know of no one, other than us, who have put both together to create a distinctive and tasty red wine! It all began with four barriques of 2004 Merlot that was taken out of barrel and re-passed over the fresh 2006 Merlot and Dornfelder fruit. The wine underwent another primary fermentation and was racked to barriques, hogsheads and puncheons where it underwent another malo-lactic fermentation. Half of the wine was taken and bottled after ten months in oak, and this was Variation One. The other half remained in barrel until the next harvest where it was re-passed over the 2007 Merlot, Syrah and Dornfelder fruit. It was all repeated and we bottled half as Variation Two. We did this again in the 2008 harvest and bottled Variation Three. This happened "Over and Over" again in 2009 for Variation Four and again in the beautiful, warm, dry 2010 vintage for Variation Five. Took a year off and the wine spent the time in barrel during the 2011 vintage, then we re-passed the lot again over the 2012 vintage for Variation Six and again in 2013 for Variation Seven and again in 2014 for Variation Eight and again in 2015 for Variation Nine and again in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for Variation Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen and Fourteen and yet again in 2021 for this Variation Fifteen!!! This wine has undergone sixteen primary and sixteen malo-lactic fermentations and has in it memories of the 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 harvests. We WILL continue to do this over & over.

Variation Fifteen is bright with dark fruit and there is a purity of red and black berry expression coupled with an integrated oak component this year that is remarkably sexy and alluring. Violets, black raspberries, black pepper, black cherries, black plums, resin, prunes and brown baking spices are the primary descriptors that come to mind in this well-balanced, dry, medium-bodied and seamless red wine. This is a pure and polished variation of this wine with a silken mouthfeel. Yes, it does keep getting better with each new Variation. Delicious, long complex flavors and textures fill one's mouth and mind. The finish is persistent and shows great complexity and intermingling of both the mature secondary characteristics and its youthful attributes. This is a wine that reflects the old and the new, the North and the South, the warm and the cool and provides us with something entirely different to think about and experience. Drink this musical, lyrical wine with all manner of game birds, fatty fish, pork, veal, lamb, grains, mushrooms and root vegetables now and over the next decade plus. 228 cases produced. 12 bottle max per customer.

2022 Pinot Grigio – Long Island AVA

We always love offering a new vintage of Pinot Grigio as ours defies the usual expectations of the grape. Our 2022 Pinot Grigio is alive with aromas and flavors of tree-ripe peaches (yellow and white), Golden and Granny Smith apples, pears, white flowers, spice, a touch of honey and what has become a tell-tale note in our whites; a salty, chalky minerality. This lovely dry white wine is clean, alluring and focused with loads of personality and a silken mouthfeel. We have often said that Pinot Grigio gets a bad rap from the thin, dilute industrial examples and we are proud to enlighten the naysayers with a Pinot Grigio of superior character. For our 2022 version all the fruit was hand-harvested, whole cluster-pressed and fermented in a stainless steel tank. The wine was handled minimally and bottled after eight months on its lees. Our 2022 is composed of 100% Pinot Grigio. The wine possesses a pale straw color with green inflections, medium-body, moderate alcohol, medium acidity and ends with a long juicy, satisfying finish. The 2022 Pinot Grigio features fruit from both our home farm in Bridgehampton and from the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork, hence the blended Long Island AVA. We are proud of our Pinot Grigio and encourage you to drink it with local fish and shellfish (especially fried), sheep's milk cheeses, zucchini frittatas, light chicken dishes, pastas and charcuterie. We made 398 cases of this wonderful wine and suggest taking advantage of the real and very attractive quality/value ratio - a great easy-drinking, versatile, every day as well as any-kind-of party white wine!

2016 Envelope — The Hamptons, Long Island AVA

And now...The Envelope, please...

This wine is electric! The color, the aromas, the flavors, the textures all pulse with vitality. Our 2016 Envelope is exotic, enticing, exciting and is all about paradox. A white wine with color... made like a red...a white with tannin and structure...a full-bodied, broad wine with moderate alcohol and a cleansing, juicy quality with full malo-lactic fermentation! This is fantastic stuff! Our 2016 Envelope is an intriguingly aromatic and an intoxicatingly delicious skin-fermented "orange" wine. The flavors and aromas are reflective of dried apricots, peaches, honey, roses, lychees, brown spice, brown sugar, apple compote, minerals, butterscotch and dried papaya. This is nuts, yes there are those flavors too in this complex, inviting wine. Made from 52% Chardonnay, 30% Gewürztraminer, 14% Malvasia Bianca and 4% Albariño this is a dry, full-bodied white that has a gorgeous psychedelic orange appearance. This is a balanced, long wine that would be delicious with corn, squash, smoked ham, duck and figs, quince paste and cheese, seeds, root vegetables, caramelized flavors and most things porcine. Not to mention a good Cioppino or Bouillabaisse or Chowder! All the fruit was hand-harvested and was gently de-stemmed, crushed by foot and fermented on its skins. The wine was all co-fermented (all with wild/ambient yeast) for 16-25 days on its skin after which the wine was bucketed out and pressed off, then put in 23% new and the remaining 77% in old/neutral oak puncheons, barrels and hogsheads where the wine spent 22 months before it was bottled. Only 188 cases of this gem were produced!

2021 Lagrein – Home Farm Vineyard, The Hamptons AVA

Long Island Lagrein...delicious, singular, expressive and downright super-cool! This is the ninth vintage bottled of our Lagrein as a red wine and we are thrilled we have enough of this 2021 vintage to send to our awesome wine club. Lagrein is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track variety for the East End as we were the first winery growing and making wine out here from this great black grape variety that hails originally from the Alto Adige in Northeast Italy. Our 2022 version has a deep purple, almost opaque color with clean, super youthful, sexy aromas and flavors of blue and black fruit like blueberries and black raspberries; along with black pepper and graphite, purple flowers (iris and violets), cocoa, stone, mineral and an alluring exotic resin note. This is seriously distinctive stuff. It is a satisfyingly rich, deep red wine with an uplifting elegance and lightness of being likely due to the juicy acidity and the wine's medium-body and moderate alcohol. As always, this vintage of Lagrein saw the grapes hand-harvested, de-stemmed, crushed by foot, punched down by hand and fermented ambiently...old-school! This wine then spent ten months in older neutral French oak barrels. It stayed in barrel without movement until we racked and bottled the wine. Only 148 cases of this divine Lagrein were bottled so don't sit around if you want to take possession of your allocation! This is super tasty now but is very young and tightly wound and will develop well in the bottle for at least 5-6 years and will drink beautifully for at least a decade more. Pair this dynamic red wine with rich, savory fish dishes like monkfish wrapped with pancetta or swordfish with an olive tapenade or tuna atop seared foie gras as well as stews and braises, grain and rice dishes, especially with mushrooms and roasted meats. This would also be fantastic with cured items like speck and lardo either on a charcuterie board or even atop some crispy flatbread or pizza. 3 bottle max per customer. First come, first served…

2022 Cuvee Tropical – North Fork of LI

The last vintage we made this wine was 2016 so we are thrilled to have it back! This is is an enchanting, exotically-fruited, exuberant white wine! Our 2022 Cuvee Tropical is super aromatic and alive with white peaches, muscat grapes, yellow nectarines, golden apples, white flowers, pineapple, melon and that undeniable saline minerality that runs through so many of our wines. This light golden colored white wine is dry, medium-bodied with moderate alcohol and possesses a juicy acid balance. The wine is comprised of 58% Muscat Ottonel and 42% Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is multiple clones from our Brick Kiln and Scuttlehole Vineyards and the Muscat is from the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork. The Muscat was fermented wild/ambiently on its skins for 18 days and then rested in a stainless steel tank. The Chardonnay was also fermented wild/ambiently in a stainless steel tank and then the two lots were blended together. This is a delightful, gregariously aromatic, satisfying, jewel-like white wine. Our 2022 Cuvée Tropical is delicious on its own or as a match fish, poultry , fried foods, tamer blue cheeses and especially with mildly spicy foods. The Cuvée is also at home with shellfish (raw or cooked), white-fleshed fish and fresh cheeses. Our Cuvée Tropical is one of our wines that is always comfortable with a variety of world cuisines from Japanese to Indian to Mexican to Caribbean to Spanish and back to American, so we encourage experimentation. We made 408 cases of this wine. A final note...please do not drink this wine too cold - instead consume after just a few minutes in the fridge as to encourage its jovial, playful, perfumed personality. Cheers!

2019 Vino Bianco – Long Island AVA

Our Vino Bianco is a delicious, symphonic white blend. This wine celebrates both forks of the East End of Long Island and has done so since its first vintage in 2001. Likely the first "white blend" in the region, it has inspired a slew of new blends from other producers creating a vibrant category in which the Long Island region excels. Our 2019 Vino Bianco is made from 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Tocai Friulano, 8% Pinot Grigio and 2% Chardonnay. The wine is alive with aromas and flavors of citrus fruit, white flowers, golden apples, lemon curd, white peaches, pears, spice, chalky minerality and the sea. The wine is juicy and texturally satisfying, succulent, complex, long and beguiling. We believe in blending because it creates complex, complete and ultimately delicious wines. This is demonstrated by the versatility of the wine at the table. Able to pair with shellfish and fish dishes as well as feel comfortable with poultry, veal (vitello tonnato) and even pork, our 2019 Vino Bianco offers a wealth of opportunities, tastes and textures. For this wine, all the varieties were harvested and vinified (approximately 50% wild and 50% inoculated) separately, and then blended together. The Sauvignon Blanc, Tocai, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio were all fermented and raised in a combination of stainless steel tanks as well as a few older oak barrels and hogsheads. This wine has benefited from some resting in the bottle and is absolutely delicious now and will drink wonderfully for at least another three to four years. 388 cases produced. No limits and a seriously great value!

2020 Sylvanus Skins

Sylvanus is a wine of place, a vin de terroir. Sylvanus is a wine made from white grapes that in the past we have produced as a still, modern, aromatic style and as a sparkling Methode Ancestrale (Pet-Nat) style. We now we have an ancient skin-fermented style or what is commonly referred to as an orange wine. This vineyard and the grapes grown there shine through in every style we have produced. We are thrilled to offer this celebratory skin-fermented version from the 2020 vintage. Lovers of past incarnations of Sylvanus will find much to adore in this version. Our 2020 Sylvanus Skins is a dry, aromatic, skin-fermented white wine. It is a field blend comprised of 46% Muscat, 29% Gewurztraminer, 20% Pinot Grigio and 5% Pinot Bianco all grown together, harvested together and fermented together. Sylvanus is not only the name of the wine, but also the name of the vineyard and the legendary Green Man who this vineyard and wine honor. In creating a field blend as opposed to blending different wine lots together, we are capturing the essence of our time and place as expressed by the Sylvanus vineyard. All of the fruit was hand-harvested, whole cluster-pressed, co-fermented on their skins in one-ton bins for 16 days until dry. The wine was matured in older oak barrels for eight months and bottled at the beginning of June 2021. Our 2020 Sylvanus Skins is a deep golden/tangerine color and possesses a clean, pronounced absurdly aromatic personality. The wine is medium-bodied, has moderate alcohol and juicy acidity. The flavors and aromas burst from the glass and on your palate and include apricots, tangerines, grapefruit and quince along with minerals and flowers like honeysuckle, magnolia and nasturtium. Our Sylvanus is juicy, tangy and alive with a long gratifying almost spicy and saline finish. This is a delicious skin-fermented wine and will pair well with a wide variety of food such as local scallops or striped bass, stuffed squash blossoms, a plethora of cheeses, oysters and clams (or a clam pie!), bucatini carbonara, pork and veal, lightly spiced Indian food, sushi and charcuterie. There is a lovely inter-play between the aromas, flavors and textures. There are ethereal qualities to this wine and its satisfying ripeness, pronounced aromatics and swelling textures encompass the paradoxical quality of aromatic lift, lightness and fleshy weight. Sylvanus Skins is super fly. 208 cases produced.

2021 Diamond Petillant Naturel — AVA Finger Lakes

Diamond is a very old American Hybrid white grape variety. Over 100 years ago it was prized for sparkling wine production. In the tome "The Grapes of New York", it was written in 1905 that "Diamond is surpassed in quality and beauty by few other grapes. When to its desirable fruit characters are added its earliness, hardiness, productiveness and vigor it is surpassed by no other green grape." "Diamond is a hybrid between Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera; the touch of the exotic grape given by the Vinifera parents has been sufficient to give it the richness in flavor of the Old World grape and not overcome the refreshing sprightliness of our native grapes." We could not agree more! Our Diamond is made in the Methode Ancestrale style and bottled before the end of its wild fermentation before it is complete, trapping the carbon dioxide in the bottle resulting in a lightly sparkling or Petillant wine. This is a delicious, aromatic and playful bottle of wine. The alcohol is low at about only 9%, the acidity is mouth-watering and refreshing and the flavors and aromas are both wild and comforting, familiar and foreign all at the same time. Our Diamond is very lightly sparking, crisp, dry and what you smell and taste are mineral, citrus and tree fruits driven along with a mild "grapiness" that is alluring, cozy and crazy delicious together. Only 168 cases of this gem were made in 2021, so get it, chill it, drink it and "Shine bright like a Diamond".

2019 Petit Verdot — Mudd West Vineyard, North Fork of Long Island AVA

The new vintage of Petit Verdot is absolutely delicious! We now know and are convinced of the great potential of Petit Verdot as a stand-alone grape here on the East End of Long Island. We have made Petit Verdot into a delicious red wine in the 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2019 vintages and there is no doubt it is a star in our cellar. Petit Verdot is a black grape variety most often found in the red blends of the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Planted in small quantities around the world it is a small-berried, thick skinned variety. Our 2019 version is comprised of 100% Petit Verdot all from the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork, so it really showcases the grape and place. The 2019 Petit Verdot is a dark, dry, spicy purple/red wine full of black and blue fruit character. The wine is rich and delicious, very aromatic and almost too easy to drink. Purple flowers, minerals, blueberries, black currants, wet stone, wild blackberries, and exotic spice are all there along with a touch of licorice or anise. So too is depth, purity and sex appeal. The wine is long, enticing, concentrated, textural, complex...simply delicious! There is balance of fruit character, moderate alcohol, juicy acidity, ripe, grippy tannins and integrated oak. As with all our red wines this wine was made from hand-harvested fruit that was de-stemmed, fermented wild, stomped on by foot and punched down by hand. The wine was raised in all older/neutral oak barrels for 21 months. This wine will match fantastically with prime rib, roast lamb and pork, grilled steaks, smoked bluefish, mushrooms, duck confit, squab and grain dishes. Our 2019 Petit Verdot is really a baby and while approachable and delectable now the wine will continue to improve in the bottle for more than a decade. We only made 388 cases, so don't wait on securing some. It may not last that long! 12 bottle max per customer (and put at least three to six of those bottles away for a long time!)
